Super middleweight Donovan “Da Bomb” George (18-0-1, 16 KOs) defeated Jason Naugler (18-10-1, 11 KOs) by a fourth-round TKO in the main event of Windy City Fight Night 7 on Friday at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago.
The fight began slowly as Naugler threw an occasional jab while George covered up and patiently stalked him around the ring.
The action picked up during the second round as Naugler began to land his jab, and followed up with hooks to the head and body of George. George continued to move forward and suddenly caught Naugler with a right hand. As the punch connected, Naugler lost his feet from underneath himself and nearly landed face first on the canvas as he dropped forward. Naugler was undeterred and rose back to his feet, surviving the round.
In the third round, George was patient as he worked his jab, and covered up as Naugler threw combos in spurts.
The end came in the fourth round when George caught Naugler with another sharp right hand. Naugler was immediately in trouble as he began to stagger around the ring. George proceeded to chase his opponent and landed many more punishing blows. Finally, referee Geno Rodriguez was able to get in-between them and halt the contest. The official time was 2:26 of round four.
Also on the card, lightweight Russell Fiore (3-0, 3 KOs) stopped Jose Luis Hernandez (0-2) in the second round. In the first round, both fighters landed punches with determination, but they gradually began to clinch each other frequently.
At the start of the second round, Fiore landed a left hook that dropped Hernandez. Although Hernandez beat the count, his legs began to wobble and he dropped down to one knee, bringing an end to the bout.
