BoxingScene.com recently caught up with three-division world champion Nonito Donaire. The Las Vegas resident is in the final stages of his training camp for his upcoming HBO televised fight against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. for the vacant WBO super bantanweight title, which takes place this coming Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Donaire has recently stated that he would like to face former two-time featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa when he moves up in weight. He also said that he is excited about the possibility of his stablemate, Brandon Rios, facing Gamboa in April.
"That is a great fight. If that fight happens then I am definitely going to help Brandon get ready for him. I am fast and have power like Gamboa. I can help him get ready for Gamboa's speed," Donaire told BoxingScene.com.
In a story reported earlier on BoxingScene, Top Rank President Todd DuBoef said that he is looking to propose the April 14th Rios-Gamboa showdown to HBO. The Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV has already been placed on hold to host the event.
