"The Filipino Flash" Nonito Donaire is still looking to avenge his 2013 twelve round decision loss to WBO/WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux. Donaire, coming off an October knockout defeat at the hands of Nicholas Walters, admits his career is at stake in the upcoming fight with against Brazil's William Prado on March 28 in Manila. It will be Donaire's first bout in Manila since 2009.
"I feel good," he said on ANC's "Headstart" on Monday. "After the loss, I (felt) renewed mentally and physically. If I don't have it, even though my mind says that I have it, then it's time to hang up the gloves. "But if somehow, I resurrect myself, then you'll see a few more years inside the ring."
"You should be competing with world champions," he said. "If you can't compete against top contenders, then you should just hang up and do something different. Even if I do win and I do have a lot of problems with this guy and having a lot of struggles, then I might have to rethink and re-evaluate everything."
If Donaire wins the fight with flying colors, he wants to get his hands on Rigondeaux.
"That's definitely a possibility, and that's something that we want. It's a matter of how this fight works," he said.
