Nonito Donaire (34-3, 22KOs) made his return to the Super Bantamweight Division in March after a run at featherweight. He defeated William Prado in the Philippines. Donaire still is itching at another world title run and says its starts now.
“I made my comeback fight after Walters back down to 122 and we’re going for a title there,” Donaire told BoxingScene.com. “I’m most likely returning in July at a card in Macao and then we want to fight for a title.”
The rumors about are that Donaire may be making a trek top the United Kingdom for a fight with Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22KOs). Though he says Quigg’s side reached out, Donaire says it’s all tentative right now.
“It’s definitely a fight we want but it’s still too soon to say,” Donaire said. “His side did reach out to me about going over there and fighting him. It’s definitely a good fight to make and if it happens, it’ll be after my fight in July. But it’s definitely a fight we can make happen this year."
