If WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Diaz (32-0, 16KOs) defeats IBF champ Julio Diaz (34-3, 25KOs) and unifies the titles, his promoter Don King would then like him to face WBC champion David Diaz (33-1, 17KOs) to unify the entire division.
King told the Chicago Sun-Times that he's taking his Diaz, and coming after promoter Bob Arum's Diaz, next.
''There should be a unification bout,'' said Don King. ''There needs to be one champion who people can relate to and identify. 'I want to get David (Diaz) in there. Let 'em fight, (Bob) Arum. I'm coming for you, Arum.''
David told the paper that he will fighter whoever brings him the most money. He wants a $1.5 million dollar purse and will fight the winner of Diaz-Diaz, Manny Pacquiao or the winner of Humberto Soto-Joan Guzman to get his money.
''If you talk to Bob Arum, tell him I want this to be my payday, my $1.5 million fight,'' he said. ''Whoever will get me the most money, I want him.''
Even if David agrees to a fight with the winner of Diaz-Diaz, there are mandatory challengers who want their shots. One of them, IBF mandatory Nate Campbell, was already promised a shot at the winner of Diaz-Diaz by the sanctioning body.
