Domonique Dolton remained unbeaten following a sixth round stoppage of Victor Fonseca in their junior middleweight bout Friday evening in Chicago, Illinois.
The bout was all one way in favor of Dolton, who showed more aggression than has been the case in recent ring appearances. The action came to a halt when Fonseca quit on his stool after five rounds.
Dolton-who trains out of the famed Kronk Gym under the watchful eye of Javan 'Sugar' Hill-improves to 17-0 (8KOs). The stoppage win is his first inside the distance in more than two years.
Big things were in store for the Detroit native on signing with adviser Al Haymon earlier this year. Friday's bout was his second under that agreement, and his first since Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions series rolled out in March.
While Friday's bout could potentially make the Spike TV broadcast - depending on how the live action goes - the plan for the immediate future is to step up in competition in a strong junior middleweight division.
"We're ready for anyone," insists Jose Nuñez, Dolton's manager. "The plan is to stay active and then be ready for whatever Al has in store for us."
