BoxingScene.com was contacted by Grant Jeans, Boxing Operations Manager for Braveheart Promotions, who says that a fight between Dmitriy Salita and Willie Limond is still possible for the November 8 undercard to Roy Jones Jr-Joe Calzaghe. As reported earlier, Limond told various media outlets that he turned down the fight because Square Ring, who handle Salita, were demanding three fight options [if he won] and were offering a low purse for each of the three fights.
"Contrary to rumors that are currently circulating regarding the Dmitriy Salita-Willie Limond bout scheduled for November 8 at Madison Square Garden, New York, I would like to confirm the following," Grant said. "CEO John Wirt of Square Ring, Inc and his staff have been very friendly and professional during our discussions for the Salita-Limond bout."
"We at Braveheart Promotions hold the rights to promote Willie Limond and can confirm that an options agreement has not been a problem during negotiations. As things stand, Willie Limond may or may not engage Dmitriy Salita, but will not be withdrawing because of any options clause or for any other contractual reason."
