On the undercard of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida, super middleweight prospect Anthony Dirrell (15-0, 12 KOs), the brother of the more popular Andre, won a four round decision over Jose Medina (14-13, 10 KOs) over four. The scores were 40-35 on all three cards. Medina went down in the fourth. Anthony's third bout since returning to the sport last October after a near two-year layoff due to illness.
In battle of fringe heavyweight contenders, Ray Austin (27-4-4, 17 KOs) won an eight-round decision over Julius Long (15-11, 13 KOs). In a wild scene, Austin sent Long down in a the eight and final round, but his the fighter while he was down - which cost him two points. The scores were 76-73 across the cards. Long's third loss in a row. Austin has been 3-0 since a March 07 knockout loss to Wladimir Klitschko - which includes a first round stoppage of Andrew Golota last November in China.
