IBF #8, WBA #9 and WBO #15 Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko (29-1, 19 KOs) will not clash against WBA #11 Russian Denis Bakhtov (33-5, 22 KOs) on July 30 in Yekaterinburg for a vacant European heavyweight title, as it had been announced before. Bakhtov has reportedly suffered an injury during his training camp and is unable either to continue his preparations for the fight or to collide with Dimitrenko in the nearest future. German Titov, who had won a purse bid to promote EBU championship, hopes to re-schedule the entire event for a later date.
Meanwhile, Dimitrenko, who was last seen in the ring more than a year ago against Eddie Chambers in the WBO eliminator, will probably take a tune-up soon. According to abendblatt.de, the Ukrainian will appear on July 31 Universum card in Hamburg, Germany, to face fellow countryman and EBU-EE titleholder Yaroslav Zavorotnyi (14-4, 12 KOs). Former kick boxing star Zavorotnyi is best known for his kayo wins over Don Diego Poeder and Maxim Maslov. He also fought Nikolay Valuev in his third professional fight and was stopped in three rounds.
