Former WBA champion Jean Marc Mormeck (36-4, 22 KOs) has been appointed by the EBU as the official challenger to the European heavyweight champion Alexander Dimitrenko (31-1, 21 KOs). The 38-year-old Frenchman has put together three wins since moving up to the heavyweight division. The EBU has give both sides until June 26 to reach an agreement or a purse bid will be ordered.

Whether or not the fight happens is unknown. Mormeck has been rumored to be possibly fighting Alexander Povetkin for the WBA's interim heavyweight title and/or their "regular" heavyweight title. There is a chance that current WBA champion David Haye will become the organization's "super champion" as he heads into a unification duel with IBO/WBO/IBF champ Wladimir Klischko.
