Undefeated super featherweight prospect Diego Magdaleno (18-0) of Las Vegas, NV is winding down his training camp for his May 6th showdown versus Gilbert Sanchez Leon (31-8-2). The bout serves as the main event for ESPN's Friday Night Fights at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino on the eve of the Pacquiao-Mosley mega fight that takes place down the Strip at the MGM Grand.

Magdaleno who stands 5'6" has been sparring with 5'11" junior welterweight Jose Benavidez amongst others. Magdaleno and his trainer Pat Barry feel that sparring with Benavidez will be a key factor in preparation for Sanchez Leon who is a huge super featherweight at 5'11".

"Diego has been getting good sparring in with Jose Benavidez. That is the type of training he needs to get ready for Leon," Barry told BoxingScene.

Magdaleno, who will defend his NABF super featherweight title feels that this is the type of opponent he needs as he continues on his march towards a world title. "He (Sanchez Leon) is a giant but I am well prepared.  We are taking it one fight at a time and on May 6th I will be ready to fight. I know all of our Vegas fans will be out to support me and my brother (Jessie Magdaleno).  I will be looking  to shine."
