Super bantamweight prospect Diego De La Hoya (11-0) will take a step forward in his class of opposition when he faces Jesus Ruiz (34-6-5) on Friday night at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles in the latest installment of LA fight Club.

The cousin of Golden Boy founder Oscar De La Hoya is looking to move quickly to elite class of the sport. Ruiz has fought many too names including Leo Santa Cruz.

"I had a great camp with a lot of sparring. I had about a 5 week training camp. I am ready for Friday," said De La Hoya who will be facing a fighter with four times more professional experience.

"I know this will be a more difficult fight. He does have a lot of experience. I trained hard and I really want to put on a great show for the fans," said De La Hoya.

Earlier this week it was announced that the vacant WBC youth super bantamweight title will be at stake. Typically these titles lead to regional titles down the road and then to world title shots.

De La Hoya said that he was very happy and even more motivated by the announcement.

"I am excited and even more motivated to get the win. It's a great honor and just another step in getting where I want to go," De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com.
