Lou DiBella wants to be clear on this topic. He’s not accusing Victor Ortiz of doping. He’s not making that accusation. He doesn’t think Ortiz is guilty of using performance enhancing drugs. But he will not allow Andre Berto, a fighter he promotes, to face Ortiz again in a rematch unless both fighters conform to some pre-fight requirements.
“I would not make the fight without Olympic style drug testing,” DiBella said. “Yeah we want the fight, and we’d demand the same drug testing that just happened in the Mayweather fight.”
Ortiz won an entertaining decision against Berto on April 16 with both fighters touching the canvas. The win catapulted Ortiz to a mega-fight with Mayweather on Saturday. That bout had the makings of a mismatch before Mayweather landed what some perceived as a legal sucker punch, stopping Ortiz at 2:59 of the fourth round.
