In an earlier interview with BoxingScene.com, WBC silver middleweight champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. said that he would love to get a shot at the full champion Sergio Martinez. Chavez returns on December 4 against Pawel Wolak in Anaheim, California. Chavez's silver belt makes him a mandatory to the title of Martinez.
"I would love to fight with Martinez. He's a great champion, but I understand that I'm going to fight Miguel Cotto, and I must be ready to seize the opportunity in order to achieve great things," Chavez said.
Lou DiBella, promoter for Martinez, views the fight as a serious mismatch.
"Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., supposedly, is Sergio's mandatory? I would get arrested if I promoted that fight with Chavez. That would be murder," DiBella said.
