Team Alexander reached out to BoxingScene.com to express their dismay at being unable to land a fight with Marcos Maidana, who agreed to fight WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley on June 19. Devon Alexander's manager Kevin Cunningham said "Ryan we flew out to Vegas to watch Maidana fight [Victor] Cayo and we were lead to believe we would be fighting Maidana on August 17th. We are disappointed that he is fighting Bradley instead."

Devon Alexander said that he would like to fight the man who handed Maidana his only defeat. "If I can't fight Maidana then I would like to fight the guy who beat him."

Kotelnik recently spoke to BoxingScene's Andrey Krikunov about making a move to America. Cunningham said, "If Kotelnik wants to come to America see if he wants to fight the WBC/IBF junior welterweight champion on HBO.  There isn't' a better way to make your U.S. debut than against a guy with two titles."

The move of Bradley fighting Maidana seems to have intensified the rivalry growing between himself and Alexander as each fighter tries to one up the other.
