Former two division champion Devon Alexander "The Great" (25-2) plans on having a big year in 2014. The St. Louis native suffered his second professional defeat earlier this month against Shawn Porter (23-0) but said that he has put the loss behind him.

Prior to the Porter loss, Alexander had been on a four fight winning streak, beating the likes of Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse and Randall Bailey. He said that he plans on returning to his winning ways.

"My 2014 is going to be great! I can't make no excuse for my performance but I'll tell u one thing I'll be back stronger and better than ever.  I'm 26-years-old and at the prime of my career. I just have to get back to the basics and keep grinding my way to the top . I know some people don't believe in me. It's okay, just watch," Alexander told BoxingScene.com.

Alexander also said that he would like to be more active in 2014. 2008 was the last year that Alexander fought more than two times in a calendar year and he hopes to top that number next year.

"I would love three fights this year. Hopefully we can make it happen . I want to stay busy this year," Alexander stated.
