MGM Grand, Las Vegas - The rumors are hot and heavy in Las Vegas, and there are several indications that former WBC junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander (22-1, 13KOs) is going to sign a promotional agreement with Golden Boy Promotions. Alexander, and his manager/trainer Kevin Cunningham, are in Las Vegas to attend the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz pay-per-view at the MGM Grand.
Alexander has been a free agent since his promotional contract expired with Don King a few months ago. In January Alexander lost a ten round technical decision to Timothy Bradley, but returned in June to win a close ten round split decision over Lucas Matthysse.
After the win over Matthysse, Alexander announced his free agent status and also announced his official move to the welterweight division. Both Golden Boy and Top Rank were interested in signing the 24-year-old boxer.
