Derek ‘Del Boy’ Chisora retired cult legend Danny Williams at Upton Park, London last weekend and promptly turned his sights on the six fights he feels will take him all the way to the WBA title held by David Haye, who is rumoured to be fighting EBU boss Audley Harrison later this year.  Chisora moved to 13-0 (8 early) with the second round TKO of the badly faded Williams, annexing the Lonsdale belt in the process.

“I’m excited, it is one of many to come so I’m ready to tackle the next subject, which is Sam Sexton for the British and Commonwealth titles,” smiled Chisora when asked about the win over Williams, who was two stone heavier on the night.

“I gave away two stone but I’ve got heavy hands.  The guy was a good fighter and gave me two good rounds but I was chucking power shots.  I put the jab out there and could see in his eyes that he didn’t want to fight so I rocked him with the left hook and then finished him,” revealed the Zimbabwe-born boxer.

“Danny caught me with a very good jab in the second round so I had to open him up for that jab and hit him with a left hook that I’ve been practising.  It is like passing the torch onto another great British fighter.  It is now my time and Danny has passed it onto me.  I’m the next big thing.  Sam Sexton is next.  I’ll do a number on Sam Sexton.”

Indeed, Chisora has put the shame of his ear-bite on Paul Butlin, for which he received a ban, and the weigh-in kiss, and subsequent brawl, with Carl Baker behind him and is showing his quality in recent fights; the 26-year-old, 2006 ABA winner is on a run of three stoppages and believes that he is six fights away from a world title.

“I’ve got a six step plan for world domination,” laughed Chisora.  “The first opponent is Sexton, then the winner of Tyson Fury and John McDermott, that will probably be Tyson, then maybe David Price, give him the opportunity to try and take my titles, then Tom Dallas or the guy with the muscles, what’s his name, Larry Olubamiwo, and then David Haye for the WBA.”

“(I’ll) conquer the world!” declared the Finchley-based heavyweight when asked about his future.

Derek’s confidence has been reflected by his progress to date, with promoter Frank Warren prepared to take risks with his heavyweight hope.  “It has got quite lively over here for the heavyweights again and I’m very excited about Derek,” revealed Warren.

“Sam and Derek are fighting next and they are the best of the two youngsters.  The next fight will determine who is the best British heavyweight.  Derek has asked for big fights since day one, he’s never been shy about who he fights.  Derek drove me mad for a fight with Williams or Sam Sexton so I gave it to him.  Derek believes in himself.”
