Regarding heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora (25-6, 17KOs), Team Sauerland is planning to feature him on September 10 in Stockholm on the undercard to Lauren vs Svensson. The opponent will be Bosnian Drazan Janjanin (13-7, 12KOs), a former two-time World (WBU german and WBB) title challenger.
The fight is set for eight 3 minute rounds - and that means it´s under the Swedish Martial Arts Law and requires special permission from the Martial Arts Delegation.
Fact of the matter that as of today – August 17 – no fight on the bill (over 12 minutes duration), including Svensson vs Lauren, have been approved by the MAD.
IN OTHER NEWS: A growing trend is Swedish fighters moving to the United States to try and make it over there. The latest is super middleweight Hampus ”Hercules” Henriksson (2-0 and a talented southpaw) who´s signed with the legendary Jimmy Montoya.
Previously lightweight prospect Redouane Kaya (4-0) came over and has trained under Eddie Mustafa Muhammad in Las Vegas and will be making his US debut once he gets his work permit. Super welterweight Simon Henriksson (4-0) will be making his debut over there September 9.
Previously Naim Terbunja (9-1) came over and has been based on Long Island and with Star Boxing. Next up for Naim could be a fight September 10 in Stockholm on the undercard to Lauren vs Svensson.
Last but not least, WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack has been based in Las Vegas for a few years now but began his career fighting out of Stockholm.
