The European Boxing Union, EBU, have announced that Dereck Chisora (25-5) and Kubrat Pulev (22-1) will fight for the vacant EBU heavyweight title with Sauerland Event as promoter. Chisora and Pulev are both already  under contract with Team Sauerland.

As to when and where it is to be announced. The winner of this very important fight will be moved into bigger and fights and there are lots of names and titles open - and even for the loser there appears to be good fight on the horizon.

Chisora is 3-0 since joining Team Sauerland while Pulev have won two straight since losing to Wladimir Klitschko.

Some expected that Chisora would face Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua for the vacant EBU title in April, but promoter Kalle Sauerland told Sky Sports that Chisora was not satisfied with the money that was offered. He says eventually Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn broke off talks and decided to go in another direction.

Sauerland, added: "I don't think anyone was ducking anyone. It's professional boxing and it was down to money. Dereck wasn't happy with the terms presented to him and said he wasn't going to do it.

"It could have gone to a purse bid but I guess Eddie and Anthony chose to go a different avenue because we couldn't reach an agreement. They chose to move on and at the end of the day, Dereck has his demands. Anthony gave up the position and Pulev moves in."
