WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33KOs) was not impressed with Antonio Tarver's performance last Friday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Tarver (31-6-1, 22KOs) fought to a twelve round draw with Steve Cunningham in the Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV main event.
After the fight, Wilder took a verbal jab in Tarver's direction on the social networks.
"I'll give Tarver some credit for hanging in there with Cunningham, but ain't now way that he'd last long against the Bronze Bromber."
Tarver answered back, letting Wilder know that he wasn't impressed with his recent knockout win over Eric Molina, who managed to get in his shots and buzzed the world champion during the contest.
"Funny thing is, I said the same thing when I saw your last fight with Eric Molina," Tarver replied back.
Both fighters are managed by Al Haymon. Wilder returns on September 26th, likely against French contender Johann Duhaupas in a PBC main event from Alabama.
Tarver is calling for a fight with WBO/WBA/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, but he is more likely to get in line for a shot with Wilder with both fighters competing under the PBC banner. Klitschko has a multi-fight deal with HBO and several mandatory challengers lined up. First up is Tyson Fury in October.
