Heavy hitting light flyweight Denver Cuello (30-4-6, 20 KO's) is scheduled to arrive in Mexico this weekend for his WBC world title eliminator against Ganigan Lopez (20-4, 14 KO's) on a card promoted by Canelo Promotions and Boxeo de Gala at the Palenque de la Feria in Celaya, Guanajuato next Saturday.
Cuello who is a protege of promoter Aljoe Jaro battles Lopez for the right to challenge current WBC champion Japanese Kazuto Ioka of Japan.
The 25 year old Cuello is the reigning WBC Silver champion having won the title with a smashing 1st round TKO of Carlos Perez last October 15, 2011.
Cuello figured in a 3rd round draw with Juan Hernandez in an earlier title eliminator after being dropped in the second round but recovering to deck Hernandez in the third. Since then Cuello has won nine fights in a row, 2 by knockout and 7 by TKO.
Lopez, like Cuello is a southpaw and has won his last four fights, 1 by knockout and 3 by TKO after winning the WBC Silver belt with a twelve round decision over Omar Soto on August 14, 2010.
In his last fight Cuello won by a 4tth round TKO over Thailand's Kid Suriyana in a scheduled ten round bout on March 10 this year while Lopez won by a TKO over Samuel Garcia who had a poor record of 3 wins as against 9 defeats.
