Things aren’t official yet but the conclaves that’ve been taking place between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade are ostensibly going well.

According to both sides, they’re simply crossing their t’s and dotting their i’s as negotiations continue to go in the right direction. When BoxingScene.com recently caught up with Jose Benavidez Sr., the father and trainer of David, he revealed that, at least on their end, everything has been agreed upon. The veteran trainer also acknowledged that a date sometime in December has been finalized.

In terms of the actual matchup, team Benavidez is confident that the final outcome will be in their favor. When asked to accentuate Andrade’s biggest weakness, Benavidez Sr. pointed to his gas tank.

At times, fans have also looked at Andrade’s second-half performances. Although Andrade has rocked most of his opponents in the first few rounds, critics have chastised him for taking his foot off the gas. With his stamina now being questioned, Andrade doesn’t take offense to it. In fact, he believes those inquiries should drive up the interest.

“Good,” said Andrade to BoxingScene.com when asked if he has an issue with anyone who’s questioning his gas tank. “Buy the tickets, buy the pay-per-view, show up. Come see what questions get answered.”

By and large, Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) enjoys a good chase. When last seen, Caleb Plant used his legs to avoid him during the first half of their showdown. However, a second-half avalanche eventually broke Plant as Benavidez took home the victory.

To a certain extent, team Benavidez is expecting much of the same. Ultimately, the questions surrounding Andrade’s endurance went from a playful misnomer to a vexing topic for the former two-division champ. For those who continue to do so, Andrade simply wants his critics to take a look at his flawless record before proceeding to lambast him left and right.

“My gas tank got me to 32-0 with 19 knockouts.“
