Delvin Rodriguez who is fresh off his win in a rematch against Pawel Wolak was on the most recent edition of BoxingScene.com’s official audio show The Boxing Lab and talked about his future plans.

While Wolak unexpectedly announced his retirement from the sport, Rodriguez feels the door to bigger things have finally opened for him.

“The first fight with Pawel Wolak, it opened the door. Now, I step in through the door” said Rodriguez. “There are a lot of good things happening, a lot of good options that are being talked about with my manager right now and my promoter”.

Delvin said he will sit down with his team and go with the fight that most make sense. With the Junior Middleweight division being pretty stacked at the moment, there are plenty of good fights that can be made. One in particular Delvin would like is a fight with current WBC Junior Middleweight champion Saul Alvarez.

“I would like to fight Canelo, Canelo Alvarez. He’s the champ right now. He’s a very strong kid, very tough fighter. But I love the challenge” declared Rodriguez.

“I love the challenge because I know it’s going to make me work harder and he’s going to get the best out of me. And that’s something I see that the fans have not seen yet; the best of Delvin Rodriguez”.

Rodriguez made his name and became a staple on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights but he’s ready for the big time. The hard work he’s done has finally paid off and he wants to fight the best of the division.

“I want to fight big guys. I want to fight top names. I don’t want to go back anymore. I did my work already. I put in my hard work and I don’t want to go backward, I want to go forward when I fight the big names”
