James DeGale has turned down a string of modeling contracts to focus on knocking out George Groves later this month.

The British super-middleweight champion has been approached by a number of high-profile companies since lifting the Lonsdale belt with a punch-perfect display against Paul Smith in December.

But he has knocked them back in order to prepare for his May 21 showdown with Groves at the O2 Arena, London.

And he says the fight will be so easy, that there's no danger of his good looks getting damaged.

"There will be plenty of time to concentrate on modeling once my boxing career is over, because I don't plan on taking much punishment," said DeGale.

"It's flattering to get all this attention, but all I want to do at the moment is giving everything to boxing.

"I keep reading that Groves thinks that I am some celebrity wannabe.

"He wouldn't be saying that if he saw me at the gym day in day out.

"As for my fight at the O2, Ugly Kid Groves hasn't got a chance.

"I feel sorry for him now, let alone what he is going to look like after I have destroyed him at the O2.

"He definitely won't be following me down the catwalk!

"It's lucky for him that all he has got to lose is his Commonwealth Strap because his good looks went by the wayside a long time ago.

"My mind is totally focused on beating George. It's a grudge match and the fans are in for a real treat.

"At the moment it's all about being a model - a model pro when I step between the ropes."

Nathan Cleverly is hoping to spark double sporting success for South Wales when he takes on Jurgen Braehmer on May 21 at the O2 Arena, London.

The Welshman challenges for the WBO light-heavyweight title against the dangerous German.

And victory would give another boost to South Wales sport with both Cardiff City and Swansea City hoping to reach the promised land of the Premier League this May.

"When Joe Calzaghe was at the top of his game down here, there was a buzz in the region," said Cleverly.

"The rugby team was winning Grand Slams and the back pages were full of sporting success.

"I think we might be on the brink of another golden era for Welsh sport.

"I'm a massive football fan and to get the Premier League down here in south Wales would be fantastic.

"We've never had a Premier League club before - perhaps this is the year we finally do it.

"Obviously there has been more success in boxing, what with the likes of Joe, Enzo Maccarinelli and Gavin Rees all winning world titles.

"But we haven't got a world champion at the moment and I am desperate for that to change on May 21.

"There is such an appetite for sporting success down here that I am determined to bring that WBO title back to Wales.

"I've not fought in front of my own fans for a long time.

"It's been great to go on the road and feature in some many great arenas up and down the country.

"Beating Braehmer and lifting that WBO will be a dream come true.

"But to get the chance to defend it in front of a sell out crowd in Cardiff will be an incredible feeling as well.

"The chance of doing that drives me on in the gym, and will make me dig deep if I have to against Braehmer."
