James DeGale says he wants to win a Lonsdale belt outright - although he might not have enough time to do it.

The British super-middleweight champion will have to make three defences of his title if he wants to keep the famous old belt for keeps.

One of those fights could be against George Groves, but DeGale has been linked with a world title opportunity next up in the last few weeks.

"I'd love to have the British title on my mantlepiece for good, but I will fight whoever Frank Warren puts in front of me, and that includes opponents at world level," said DeGale.

The 2008 Olympic champion is likely to fight again in March or April, although no date has been confirmed.

Meanwhile Warren has once more reitterated his belief that DeGale can became Britian's first Olympic and world champion.

Writing in his column for The Sun newspaper, Warren said that "Chunky" had the ability to follow in the footsteps of fellow Olympic star Amir Khan and lift a world title.
