Olympic gold medal winner James DeGale (19-1, 13KOs) is prepared to face IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch as soon as possible. This past Saturday night at Wembley Stadium DeGale went right through unbeaten Brandon Gonzales in a final IBF eliminator. In the main event of the card, Froch knocked out George Groves in the eight round of their rematch.
Froch seems to have far more interest in flying over to Las Vegas for a major fight and DeGale doubts the Nottingham boxer is ready to face him. DeGale has no issue fighting for someone else for the title if Froch vacates.
"The question is does Carl Froch want to fight me? I'm not too sure, but I'm in a fantastic position now. I'm in the mandatory spot so he has to fight me within 120 days. I think he wants to go to Vegas to fight Chavez or another American. That's his dream so if he decides to do that, (and) he vacates the belt, then I'm next in line and I get to fight for the vacant title," DeGale told Sky Sports News.
"I'm a horrible fighter to face. Listen, I'm all wrong for Carl Froch and I've said that for years. It'd be a horrible fight for him and I think I'd beat him convincingly."
