Oscar De La Hoya, in an interview with Robert Morales of the LA Daily News said that he is willing to fight Felix Trinidad, but not at the middleweight level. Oscar is willing to go as high as 154 pounds in order to make the fight happen. Oscar said that he may not fight until 2006.

"I'm definitely going to fight again; I'm just waiting for the right time, the right moment. Everybody knows September is my date when I fight. If that doesn't happen, then the first couple of months of next year. said De La Hoya

"I just want everything to be perfect, to be right. I want to be maybe four, five months in training before I actually step inside the ring to make sure my body's right and trained right and everything."

De La Hoya held his stance on a possible fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and said the fight will never happen out of respect for Floyd's father who is Oscar's trainer. Oscar also said that he has no interest in facing rising star Miguel Cotto, should Cotto go to 147.

"He (Mayweather) can say all he wants, but that's not ever going to happen. There is only one Puerto Rican fighter I want to face - Felix Trinidad Jr. I would go as high as 154 just to face Trinidad. The loss doesn't bother me at all, because when I'm in Puerto Rico, everybody whispers in my ear, all the Puerto Ricans, 'We think you won the fight, just don't tell nobody.' They tell me that every single day." said De La Hoya
