It's been reported that a meeting between Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions and Bob Arum of Top Rank, has been scheduled for next Wednesday in Los Angeles. According to Dan Rafael, Arum and Schaefer will try to iron out a deal for Manny Pacquiao to face Oscar De La Hoya on Decemeber 6 in Las Vegas, the final fight of De La Hoya's career. Pacquiao flew in this week to the United States and held meetings with Arum in Las Vegas to discuss the fight. Pacquiao, who fights at 135, would have to move up by two-weight divisions to challenge De La Hoya at an agreed upon weight of 147.

Schaefer told Rafael there are some issues, but they will go over everything.

"There are some issues we need to talk about," Schaefer said. "There are some deal points which need to be discussed, such as the split of the revenues, the weight. I think the gloves, maybe."

Schaefer tells Rafael that the fight with Pacquiao became a personal matter due to comments made by Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach, who also trained De La Hoya for the bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Roach called Oscar an old fighter who is no longer able to "pull the trigger." He also made other comments about Pacquiao being able to knock De La Hoya out.

"Oscar really wants to do the fight. You know Oscar," Schaefer said. "He honestly feels that Freddie and Pacquiao have been disrespectful. It's [expletive] for Freddie to say that Oscar can't pull the trigger anymore. Oscar will show them how he can pull the trigger. Pacquiao is being Freddie Roach's puppet and Oscar wants to teach a lesson to them. Manny is the best fighter in the world, pound for pound, but Manny will see how Oscar pulls the trigger in the ring and Freddie can sit in the corner and watch Oscar hit him. Oscar gave me clear instructions to make the fight with Pacquiao, not to kill the fight."

In a recent interview, De La Hoya said that he felt that Pacquiao stabbed him in the back and he wanted revenge - which is a reference to Pacquiao signing with Golden Boy in 2006, only to turn around a few weeks later and sign with Top Rank.
