According to well-known Filipino scribe, Dennis Principe, Oscar De La Hoya has raised his offer to WBC lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao, with a 67-33 split. A source close to the negotiations advised Principe that De La Hoya's side raised the offer after talks broke down last week. Last Wednesday Pacquiao turned down De La Hoya's offer of a 70-30 split, and De La Hoya refused Pacquiao's 60-40 counter-offer.

Pacquiao will have to leap in weight by two divisions to 147-pounds to face De La Hoya on December 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum, and Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, are pushing to reach a deal in the next few days with an official announcement possibly coming down next week.

The offer was said to have been raised a few ago, with Pacquiao receiving a 70-30 split on every pay-per-view buy, instead of the split changing to 80-20 after a certain number of buys were reached. With a 67-33 split, I would guess the split would be 67-33 for a certain number of buys, before switching to 70-30. Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach told Principe that he already has a plan for the proper training camp to prepare for his fighter for De La Hoya

“I know we have to fight a very good fight and we need to have a great training camp and great sparring partners. The whole thing is preparation. And that’s what Manny does best,” said Roach.

If the fight falls apart for any reason, Pacquiao has targeted Humbert Soto for November, and De La Hoya has WBC junior middleweight champ Sergio Mora on the side, though Mora would have to win a tough rematch with Vernon Forrest on September 13.
