According to recent interview conducted in the SGV Tribune, Oscar De La Hoya spoke about the details of his deal with Winky Wright.

It appears that unlike Shane Mosley, Bernard Hopkins and Marco Antonio Barrera - Wright is not an equity partner with Golden Boy. The deal was more of a promotional contract that was mixed in with a working agreement between their two promotional companies.

It was win-win move for both parties as De La Hoya's company will co-promote Wright's fights and also help his promotional company, Winky Promotions, get off the ground.

"Basically, he will be using us as a vehicle to get his company started, and at the same time, we will be helping him promote his fights," De La Hoya said. "It is not an equity type of deal where we are going to give him equity in Golden Boy Promotions."

During the interview, De La Hoya took a shot at Wright's former promoter Gary Shaw, who was critical of Wright for his lack of loyalty. As some may recall, the entire mess that happened a few months ago between Wright, Gary Shaw, De La Hoya and others. Shaw had hoped Wright would deal with him on fight-by-fight basis after the Taylor bout, but he knew in his head that Wright was likely jumping ship. After Wright's stints with Square Ring, Don King and DiBella Inc. ended in negative fashion, Shaw was not surprised with Wright not standing by the guy who got him the big fights. De La Hoya was quick to defend Wright and put the blame on Shaw for Wright's departure.

"When you have Manny Pacquiao, when you have Winky Wright, when you have Shane Mosley not wanting to do business with you again, what is wrong with that picture?" De La Hoya said. "Who is wrong and who is right?"
