Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya believes Marcos Maidana did enough to defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather won a twelve round majority decision and the fight was much closer than anyone could have predicted.
"I watched several fights again and Floyd should be 43-3," De La Hoya stated on the social networks.
Besides Maidana, De La Hoya felt he personally did enough to defeat Mayweather in 2007 [a fight which Mayweather won with a close split decision]. And De La Hoya saw Jose Luis Castillo as the victor of his first battle with Mayweather, who won a close unanimous decision.
