There are certainly no friendly feelings between Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya and WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

They broke all types of records when they faced each other in 2007, with Mayweather winning a close twelve round split decision. The HBO Pay-Per-View generated over 2.4 million pay-per-view purchases and that record stood until this past May, when Mayweather's fight with Manny Pacquiao crushed that number with a 4.4 million buyrate figure.

De La Hoya's company would eventually co-promote Mayweather's fights for years. They went their separate ways last year, not long after Mayweather's close friend, former Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, departed from Oscar's company.

A lot of harsh words have been exchanged between De La Hoya and Mayweather over the years, so Oscar took a parting shot on the social networks when Mayweather announced his September 12th PPV showdown with Andre Berto.

"Sh*t I was so close in making Soto Karass vs. Andre Berto II," De La Hoya wrote.

The remark was in reference to Berto's twelfth round knockout loss to Soto Karass, a card which Golden Boy promoted in July of 2013.

Soto Karass is more or less a tough mid-tier fighter who usually comes up short and Berto was the biggest win of his career. Berto did suffer a shoulder injury during the fight and required surgery following the contest.
