Former six-division champion Oscar De La Hoya is still hinting at a possible bout with unbeaten Ricky Hatton in 2008. Hatton fights at the junior welterweight limit of 140-pounds and would have to move up to the full welter limit of 147 to fight De La Hoya.

In a recent interview with Setana Sports , De La Hoya said fans would be "ecstatic" if a fight was made between him and Hatton because the two of them will come to fight.

"I respect Ricky Hatton. He's a great fighter, he's a great guy. If that fight does get made, fans all over the world will be ecstatic. They will see a fight. Ricky Hatton comes to fight," De La Hoya said. "And that's what I love. If we ever do it, it will be a heck of a show, that's for sure."

Hatton, in a recent interview with  Reuters , said a bout with De La Hoya would be an honor. He stills wants to face WBC welterweight champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in the fall, but is willing to make a fight with De La Hoya if the potential bout with Mayweather falls apart.

"It would be an honor to share a ring with a modern day legend like Oscar. It would be great to fight him in England in a soccer stadium or America. It would be some fight. It's those sort of fights that secure your legacy," Hatton said. "It's no secret that I also want to fight Floyd, hopefully in the autumn. He is regarded as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, but I feel I have the style to beat him. But if Floyd won't fight me maybe Oscar would. Oscar has never dodged anybody."
