If it is not broke, why fix it?
The 'L.A. Fight Club' series has been a success in the two years of existence and promoter Oscar De La Hoya plans to continue the popular series.
Golden Boy Promotions will return to the famed Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles on February 3, commencing the 2017 series.
No word yet on which Golden Boy fighters will appear on the card, but it will likely be unbeaten prospects and fringe contenders ready to take the next step forward.
The 'L.A. Fight Club' series at the Belasco Theatre has seen the rise of young fighters become well-known to boxing fans, whether in Los Angeles or abroad through Estrella TV and RingTVLive.com.
Joseph Diaz, Ronny Rios, Manuel 'Tino' Avila, Julian Ramirez, Abraham Lopez and Vyacheslav Shabranskky are just some of the Golden Boy fighters who have fought at the Belasco Theatre, eventually fighting on premium network programming such as HBO.
That will continue to be the plan, according to De La Hoya.
"It's a tremendous platform for our young fighters," De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com Saturday morning. "Some of our contenders have also fought at the Belasco."
"It (L.A. Fight Club series at the Belasco) is my baby. I'm very proud of it. It's growing and it's tremendous to see where it's at."
Golden Boy Promotions also stages fight cards two hours away in Indio at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
De La Hoya said a 'major' announcement will be made soon regarding the popular series. De La Hoya stresses fans will continue to get their money's worth regarding the quality of fights and seeing prospects and contenders get their name out as well.
"We've done great things thus far. The Belasco will continue to be a platform where our younger fighters are in the local spotlight and could eventually fight on bigger networks and bigger audiences."
"I'm proud to see this grow and what the future holds."
