Oscar De La Hoya says that his reunion with trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. is the key to beating Saturday's opponent, Steve Forbes, at the Home Depot Center in California, and winning his proposed September rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Mayweather Sr. has that secret potion to dissect the Mayweather style," De La Hoya said. "Mayweather Sr. created that style, he made it, so working with him on the Forbes fight, I already feel confident I'll beat Mayweather Jr. [We have] a perfect relationship. Like a hand and glove. We're the perfect team."

Should he get past Forbes and then Mayweather, he plans to fight one more time before retirement. He recently said that Miguel Cotto would be prefered opponent for December, but according to the Times, he's not against fighting Antonio Margarito either. Cotto defends his WBA welterweight title against Margarito on July 26.

"The plan is to fight the best. If that's Antonio or Miguel Cotto, then that's who it'll be," De La Hoya said.
