Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya says Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) is a legit threat to everyone in the welterweight division - including the two biggest stars at the weight, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Khan has an important showdown on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, when he faces former two division world champion Devon Alexander. If Khan wins, he could very well land a fight with Mayweather.

Some of the welterweights who work with De La Hoya's company include Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Errol Spence, Marcos Maidana and Robert Guerrero. Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse and Frank Gomez could find themselves there as well in 2015.

“He is a threat to everyone in the division. He has been fighting the very best," De La Hoya said. "He’s been waiting very patiently. And I’ve always said this.....Khan is the type of fighter that if you put him up to the test.....if you put him up against a Floyd Mayweather, you put him up against a Manny Pacquiao - don’t be surprised when he wins, because that’s the type of character, the type of fighter that Khan is."
