Jun “Mario” De Asis has lost by an eighth round knockout in an IBF Pan Pacific super bantamweight title fight against champion Fahsan 3K Battery in Bangkok.
The world-rated Fahsan who was knocked out in the fourth round by Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao in December 2004 in the “Yanig sa Taguig” fight card at The Fort decked De Asis with a vicious body shot to the mid-section and the Filipino was counted out at 1:05 of the eighth round.
Reports from Bangkok said De Asis started off strong but Fahsan 3K Battery turned things around beginning in the second round with powerful shots to the head and body that gradually weakened De Asis.
The 31 year old Fahsan improved to 52-8-1 with 29 knockouts while De Asis, according to the Phil Boxing website is 3-8 with 2 KO's showing a wide discrepancy in fight records. Lapuz is not rated by the GAB.
In a supporting bout Dondon Lapuz dropped a unanimous eight round decision to Fahsai Sakkreerin who improved to11-1 with 3 KO’s. Lapuz, according to the Boxrec website has a record of 9 wins against 20 defeats with 6 KO’s.
Sakkreerin is a super bantamweight while Lapuz is the reigning Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight champion having won the title with a third round KO of Rex Marzan last October 18, 2005.
