The rematch between IBF light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (27-0, 17 KOs) and Antonio Tarver (27-5, 19 KOs), previously scheduled for March 14, has been rescheduled for May 9 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. HBO still plans to televise the event. The March date was canceled when Dawson hurt his right hand during training camp.
The May date is going to be Dawson's debut on the network and the first fight for Tarver on the network since losing a 2006 decision to Bernard Hopkins. Dawson won a lopsided decision over Tarver last October and has to face him again due to a rematch clause in their fight contract.
