The word going around boxing insiders is that IBF light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (27-0, 17 KOs) injured his right hand in training camp and will not be able to move forward with his HBO televised rematch with Antonio Tarver (27-5, 19 KOs) on March 14. The March date was going to be Dawson's debut on the network and the first fight for Tarver on the network since losing a 2006 decision to Bernard Hopkins.
Dawson won a lopsided decision over Tarver last October. Due to the rematch clause, retirement by Joe Calzaghe and possible retirement of Hopkins - Dawson went with the Tarver rematch sooner than later.
Editor's Note: Manager Mike Criscio is flying out to Las Vegas to check on Dawson's right hand. Technically nothing is officially off until they figure out the severity of the injury and how much time Dawson will need to recover. The fight taking place in less than a month is extremely unlikely.
