Poland update: Kostecki KOs Onyango

In the top-billed fight of the event organized on Saturday in Ketrzyn by Bullit KnockOut Promotions, Dawid Kostecki (29-1, 21 KO), a light heavyweight listed in the WBC and WBA rankings, overcame Samson Onyango (17-3, 12 KO) by TKO in the fifth round. Kostecki, renowned for his aggressive style, gained advantage over his opponent right from the beginning, and in the fifth round dropped him to the canvas with a body blow. Onyango managed to get up before the count of ten, but he refused to continue the fight.

The MOSiR hall in Ketrzyn was also the venue for the bouts of two WBC Youth cruiserweight champions. The former champion Pawel Kolodziej (22-0, 12 KO) won a unanimous decision (80-72, 80-72, 80-72) in 8-round fight against the Hungarian Laszlo Hubert (18-3, 9 KO), while the current champ Tomasz Hutkowski (13-0-1, 10 KO) TKOd another Hungarian, Zoltan Beres (38-41-2, 13 KO), in the third round.

Other winners included cruiserweight Lukasz Janik (11-0, 5 KO), who stopped Peter Oravec (1-9, 1 KO) in first round, and welterweight Krzysztof Bienias (36-3, 14 KO), who went the distance against Istvan Hegedus (1-3, 0 KO)- scores were 58-57, 58-57, 58-57.
