After a superb performance, Dawid Kostecki (33-1, 23 KO) defeated Dario Cichello (18-7-2, 5 KO) in a fight for vacant IBC light heavyweight title which took place in Rzeszów, Poland. Kostecki finished his Italian rival in the seventh round when he floored Cichello with a powerful right hook. The Italian managed to stand up but Daniel Van de Viele, an experienced referee, mercifully stopped this uneven contest.

Kostecki fully controlled the fight from the first gong. He seemed to be too fast for his 31-year-old opponent who looked bewildered in the eary few moments of the battle. The Polish light heavyweight was close to finishing the fight in the fourth round by knocking Cichello down with a right hook. The Italian survived thanks to the bell tha announced the round’s end. In the next two rounds, the constantly attacking “Gypsy” did not let Cichello off the hook and he finally finished the job in the seventh. When the Italian unexpectedly started his hasty attack and tried to hit Kostecki in the corner, the Pole dealt the final blow of the fight and winning by TKO.
