David Tua returned to the in Auckland, New Zealand and performed one of his last second knock-outs to win a fight against journeyman Talmadge Griffis (22-5) in the final round of their scheduled ten round bout. Griffis is ranked 130 in the world.
Reports coming out of New Zealand have said that Tua looked out of shape and very rusty in the ring. Tua was so rusty that the fight was actual even in most rounds and some had it close going into the final round. This was Tua's first fight in two years, his last bout was a draw with Hasim Rahman on March 29, 2003.
Tua's promoter Cedric Kushner told the New Zealand press that he wanted Tua back in the ring within 90 days.
