As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, the heavyweight bout between David Tua (51-3-1, 43 KOs) and Monte Barrett (34-9) was going to move from June 26 in in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to a date of July 17 in Atlantic City. The move is now official and the fight will take place at the Tropicana Casino and Resort. Tua will defend his WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Oriental heavyweight title belts.
"I'm delighted to be fighting in the US again," Tua told New Zealand Herald. "Especially in Atlantic City where I've had so much success in the past."
Tua is undefeated in Atlantic City, New Jersey, with 13 victories pkaced in including knockout wins against John Ruiz, Michael Moorer and Oleg Maskaev. Barrett is also unbeaten in Atlantic City, with a 7-0, 5 KOs record there, but he also lost his last three fights with two of them ending by knockout.
