The big story of the pay-per-view that was held at the at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy, Utah, was the impressive physical condition of heavyweight David Tua (48-3-1, 41 KOs), who weighed 237 1/2 pounds, the lowest since his decision loss to Chris Byrd in 2001. He demolished, as expected, Saul Montana (48-15, 42 KOs) in the first round with two of his trademark left hooks. Tua has now been 10-0-1 since the loss to Byrd, one has to wonder when he will take on a live body capable of testing him.
In other action;
Heavyweight Roman Greenberg (26-0, 18 KOs) stopped Damon Reed (43-12, 30 KOs) in the ninth round. It was a one-sided contest that saw Reed go down twice in the eight and once in the ninth before the fight was stopped. Greenberg has to really step up and face someone with a pulse if he wants to be taken seriously. He's been getting fed walk-over opponents for far too long.
Jeremy Williams (42-5-1, 35 KOs) returned to the ring as a cruiserweight, showing some ring rust as he won an eight-round split decision over unheralded Gary Gomez (18-9-1, 7 KOs). The scores were 78-75 Williams, 77-75 Williams and 77-75 Gomez. Williams has fought his entire career as a heavyweight and last saw action in December of 2004, when he was knocked out in vicious fashion by Samuel Peter.
Middleweight prospect Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (14-0, 12 KOs) blew away Jose Humberto Corrall (10-6, 7 KOs) in less than two-minutes of the first round.
