NEW YORK — Before their welterweight main event on Thursday, David Malul and Colin Huntington sent a parting message to one another at the weigh-in.

The two had to be reminded by the New York commission to save the aggression for the ring as they jawed off at one another and let out growls after stepping off the scale for their four-round fight at Melrose Ballroom in the Astoria section of Queens, New York.

Malul, 3-0 (2 KOs), a popular fighter from Jamaica, Queens, weighed in at 146.6lbs, while Huntington, 3-6 (2 KOs), of Kalamazoo, Michigan weighed 147.6lbs. The fight will headline a card promoted by King David Promotions, which is the maiden venture of the company, which is headed by the 22-year-old Malul.

Huntington, 23, is fighting for the first time in New York, and has a record of 1-2 in 2025.

The rest of the card will be compromised primarily of fighters from Malul’s home gym, Main Street Boxing, in Pelham Manor, New York, namely Ronny Reyes, Joseph Elzey and Kidane Bennett.

Reyes, 4-2 (1 KO), is fighting for the first time in 14 months after suffering back-to-back defeats by decision. He will face Norwalk, Connecticut’s Terrence Williams, 1-0, who made his pro debut just under three months ago. Reyes weighed 129lbs while Williams came in at 129.6lbs.

“I’m feeling ready, I don’t think he got anything for me,” said Reyes.

“Tomorrow is everything. Everything is on the line. There’s no if, ands or buts; a win is the only option.”

Elzey, 3-1 (1 KO), of The Bronx will be seeking to rebound from his only defeat when he faces Rashad Hicks, 2-5-1 (1 KO), of Dellwood, Missouri.

The 33-year-old Elzey is coming off a decision loss to Jordy Suarez in March and is looking to bounce back with a win. Elzey weighed 126.4lbs while Hicks came in at 127.6lbs.

“The same thing I feel about every other opponent,” said Elzey about what he observed on the scales. “I got him, I got this, it’s just another day.”

Bennett, 24, of Mount Vernon, New York weighed in at 142.6lbs for his four-round bout against Charser Granberry, 0-1, who was 140.6lbs.

In other weights, Ryan Zempoaltecatl, 3-0 (2 KOs), of South Fallsburg, New York was 143.8lbs, while Isaiah Turner, 1-6 (1 KO), of Dothan, Alabama was 142.8lbs. Opening the card, Paul Anthony, 4-0 (3 KOs, of Brooklyn weighed 133.4lbs while Stephen Barbee, 1-4, of Las Vegas weighed 136.6lbs.
