According to Sky Sports, David Haye's promotional company, Hayemaker Promotions, countered promoter Frank Warren's deadline offering to super middleweight prospect George Groves. Warren sent Hayemaker an offer with a 48-hour deadline for Groves to fight James DeGale on one of his shows.
Hayemaker CEO Adam Booth told Sky that a counter-offer was sent to DeGale, with "substantially more" money being offered. There is one big catch to the counter-offer....DeGale has to fight Groves on a "Hayemaker promoted" event. That won't sit well with DeGale's promoter, Warren. Booth wants the fight to take place in December.
"I have made a counter offer to Frank Warren this morning for James DeGale to fight George Groves on a Hayemaker show - and it is substantially more than his offer to us," Booth told Sky Sports. "I have put my money firmly where my mouth is and seeing that Frank and James so desperately want the fight, I look forward to their acceptance."
