The proposed bout between two-time heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman (45-6-2, 36KOs) and WBC/WBA cruiserweight champ David Haye (20-1, 19KOs) has hit a snag over money.

A source close to the situation has informed BoxingScene.com that promoter Frank Maloney made an offer of $300,000 to Rahman, which (at the moment) is not enticing enough for the former champion. Rahman is said to be looking for $500,000.

The offer made by Maloney would have the fight tentatively taking place on a March date in England. Haye would move up to the heavyweight division to meet Rahman.

The source told BoxingScene: "It's a dangerous fight. Haye could punch. You have to factor in the money Rahman would see at the end of the day. The taxes between both countries (if it took place in England), manager, promoter (Top Rank) and whatever else - he wouldn't have a lot left over."
