In a follow-up to an earlier report, WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has advised media outlets that his banged up Mercedes was being driven by his bodyguard at the time of the accident. Haye's car, worth over $125,000 dollars, was involved in a major accident in South London after hitting into another vehicle and then swerving around and crashing into a lamp post.

Haye claims that he wasn't inside the vehicle at the time of the accident. Reports ran wild after Haye went on his Twitter account and wrote that his car had been totaled in an accident and advised his followers - " But I'm OK" - which made everyone, including major newspapers, believe that he was involved in the accident.

Even Haye's personal friend, WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan, was under the impression, based on Haye's Twitter post, that the heavyweight champion was inside the vehicle.  Khan wrote to Haye - "Hope you [are] OK bro. You need chill out, only lamp post you need [to] hit is that Audley Harrison post."
