David Haye will be back in the ring before the year is out.
The former WBA heavyweight world champion, who also reigned supreme in the cruiserweight division, made his comeback earlier this year and is set for one final appearance before 2017.
Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) iced Mark de Mori of Australia inside a round back in January and cast a similar predicament upon Arnold Gjergjaj in May. Both contests were screened exclusively live on UKTV channel Dave and took place at the O2 Arena in London.
And Haye has confirmed that he will return to the ring, at a venue to be confirmed on December 10, via a post published on his verified Twitter account.
The 35-year-old wrote: “I'm fit, healthy & will be back in the ring on 10 Dec 2016.
“[My] [o]pponent [is set] to be announced very soon. You'll be happy!”
It was thought that there was an agreement for Haye to face Shannon Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KOs), who fought on the same card as Haye in May in what was described as a warm-up fight before the two met.
But all talk of a potential showdown between the pair has cooled and now looks unlikely for the aforementioned December date.
Haye is currently rated with all four sanctioning bodies. The WBC has him sitting at number five, while he’s rated at six with the WBA, three with the IBF whose champion is London Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua and four with the WBO.
Further details will be revealed in due course.
